Seaton Sluice
The sandy beach between Seaton Sluice and Blyth on the Northumberland coast is a popular destination for visitors and forms part of the Coquet to St Mary’s Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ). The beach is backed by an important dune system which is designated as a a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and is recognised for its diverse plant species. The dunes attract many migrant birds both in spring and autumn and have good communities of reptiles and invertebrates.
Storm events and tides can influence the amount of sand found on the beach and lead to erosion of the dune systems. The Seaton Sluice CoastSnap point is located on Rocky Island to the south of Seaton Sluice beach. By sharing your photographs you will help us to monitor how the distribution of sand on the beach and dunes is changing over time.
